Welcome to my little corner of the internet, aka Alexis Goes West.
Hailing from a small town in Louisiana known for meat pies and Steel Magnolias (yes, the movie!), I'm Alexis, an iced-coffee-dependent blogger, and screenwriter. During the day I work in social media and marketing for a political media company. At night, I can be found on my velvet couch trying to write the next great rom-com.
While I’m originally from the south, I lived and worked as a magazine editor in New York City for three years. Once my time in that city fizzled out, I headed west to Los Angeles, California to chase my Hollywood writing dreams and Alexis Goes West was officially born.
Here you’ll find musings about Los Angeles, book reviews, an inside look into the art of screenwriting, my adulting adventures, and more. In other words…expect the standard lifestyle blog content with a heaping dose of whatever I feel like saying that day.
Bonus: Some fun facts about me…
I got my braces taken off the second week of 9th grade and have been smiling big ever since.
I'm addicted to The Sims. Most weekends I'm holed up in my room lost in a fictional universe and I know plenty of cheat codes so my Sims live forever...muah hahaha!
I am afraid of holes. Like a series of holes, honeycomb, etc. I only discovered this fear by scrolling down the internet one day. Super gory horror movies, though? Love 'em.
My dream brunch guests include Shonda Rhimes, Issa Rae, Ava DuVernay, Gina Prince Bythewood, Mara Brock Akil, Courtney Kemp, and Yvette Lee Bowser. They're all screenwriters (among other things) and I would give a kidney to have a writer's gab over waffles and mimosas.
